Additional Study Information:
The purpose of this research study is to find out if sleep habits are related to risk factors for heart disease among women. About 500 women are expected to participate in this study. The study measurements will take place at Columbia University Medical Center. You will be asked to complete an interview that takes about 60 minutes and includes the following surveys: 1) questionnaires about your sleep habits, 2) a diet survey, 3) a physical activity questionnaire, 4) a depression and social support assessment, and 5) a caregiving assessment. You will also have your blood pressure, height, weight, and waist size measured. This visit will also include drawing about two tablespoons of blood from a vein in your arm to evaluate standard and new heart disease risk factors. All participants will be asked to return to Columbia University Medical Center after one year, and this visit will also take about 60 minutes. Participants will receive $100 for their participation at the end of the study.
